London Welsh win a thrilling contest 25-24 after a late try from Alfie To'oala.

London Welsh have beaten Exeter Chiefs 25-24 in an epic contest this afternoon.

Exeter started the game very strongly and Welsh were unable to deal with the early pressure, with Luke Arscott opening the scoring with a fifth-minute try, which Ignacio Mieres converted.

Exeter's lead then doubled after just 11 minutes, when Matt Jess scored from a quick Chiefs break.

The Welsh comeback started on 15 minutes when the Chiefs were penalised after a line-out and the referee awarded a penalty try to the home side, which was duly converted.

Welsh moved to within two points on 23 minutes with Nick Scott running an 80-yard interception, however Gordon Ross missed the chance to level.

Then a penalty just before the break put the hosts 15-14 up. However, Exeter were not about to stay behind as they scored their third try on 48 minutes through Richard Baxter, before another penalty from London put reduced the gap to three once more.

The Chiefs added a penalty of their own, with Gareth Steenson accurate on 66 minutes and the lead was 24-18.

However, the six-point lead meant that the Welsh were only ever a converted try away from the lead and, sure enough, with three minutes to play Alfie To'oala's score was converted for a last-gasp 25-24 victory.
