Brive have beaten Sale Sharks 19-9 in Pool Five of the Amlin Challenge Cup at Edgeley Park.
The hosts took the lead after three minutes thanks to a Nick Macleod penalty.
Brive drew level on 16 minutes courtesy of Julien Caminati's penalty.
Macleod kicked over another penalty four minutes later to edge Sale in front before another kick three minutes from the break gave the English side a 9-3 lead.
However, Caminati had the final say of the half as he made another penalty to make the scores 9-6 at half time.
Another Caminati penalty levelled the tie four minutes into the second half.
After a missed Caminati kick just after the hour, it took until the 74th minute for Brive to take the lead as Antonie Claassens touched down the first try of the match. Caminati was successful with the conversion to give his side a 16-9 advantage.
Caminati sealed the win with two minutes to go as another penalty made the final score 19-9 to the French side.
