Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has admitted that a lack of discipline cost his team during their narrow defeat to Northampton Saints.
The Aviva Premiership's top two sides played out an entertaining clash at Stadium MK on Saturday, but it was leaders Northampton who eventually prevailed 25-20.
Sarries' afternoon was made worse when Billy Vunipola was forced off in the second half with an ankle injury.
"You can't expect to win games of that nature when you give away the amount of penalties that we did. There were seven penalties for offside," McCall told BBC Sport.
"We genuinely don't mind losing the odd game. Last week, I was incredibly proud of how we lost [against Clermont Auvergne in the European Rugby Champions Cup semi-finals]. This felt a bit different. We lost a bit of composure in the last 20 minutes.
"We were clinical for our first two scores, but we had a horrible six minutes when Billy Vunipola drops the ball over the line, then he rolls his ankle."
Saracens are back in Aviva Premiership action on May 10 when they host playoff-chasing Exeter Chiefs.
