Saracens score 20 unanswered second-half points to beat Harlequins 31-17 in the Aviva Premiership playoff at Allianz Park.

Saracens scored 20 unanswered second-half points to beat Harlequins 31-17 in this afternoon's Aviva Premiership playoff at Allianz Park.

The first 30 minutes went by tryless, with Owen Farrell successfully kicking two penalties to Nick Evans's one to give Saracens a narrow lead before the hosts had two men yellow-carded.

First Marcelo Bosh unfairly tackled Evans before Matt Stevens interfered with the ball to leave Saracens down to 13 men for five minutes.

Quins would make the numerical advantage count as Ugo Monye drove through to touch down, with Evans kicking the extras to put the visitors 10-6 in front.

Saracens hit back instantly though and were back in front thanks to Kelly Brown's try against the run of play.

It looked like the home side would hold a one-point lead going into the break but then Mike Brown went over for Quins, with Evans adding the extras to give the visitors a 17-11 lead at the interval.

Quins wouldn't score in the second half though as Brad Barritt and Chris Ashton scored converted tries, while Farrell added two penalties.

Mark McCall's side will now face Northampton Saints, who yesterday beat Leicester Tigers in a thriller at Franklin's Gardens, in the final at Twickenham in two weeks.
