David Denton has said that Scotland can win the Rugby World Cup despite losing every match in the Six Nations.
Scotland finished bottom in the Championship standings following their 40-10 loss to Ireland but had a points difference of just -25 during the four previous matches.
"I understand it's hard to see," Denton told BBC Sport.
"Our first goal is to get out of our pool and then give ourselves every chance of winning the World Cup.
"We never change - we're in this sport to win. We've got a tough pool, we've got tough games particularly against South Africa and Samoa that we need to make sure we perform well in and it's a pool I think we can do well in, then you get the favourable quarter-final and you move on from there."
Denton missed most of the Six Nations campaign through injury but played in Scotland's losses to England and Ireland.
