Heyneke Meyer has refused to be drawn on whether he will remain South Africa head coach following their World Cup semi-final defeat to New Zealand.
The Springboks held the lead at half time as they threatened to upset the champions at Twickenham, before eventually losing 20-18.
Meyer told reporters: "I'm very proud of the guys. All Blacks are a quality side but we should have been in the final. I'll never settle for second-best"
It remains unclear whether Meyer will be given the opportunity to lead this side to the next tournament in four years, and he was quick to avoid questions regarding his future.
"It's been an honour to serve my country. I'm taking one day at a time. Not thinking about it right now."
Meyer was named head coach in 2012.
