Flanker Heinrich Brussow and scrum half Fourie du Preez have returned to the South Africa fold after lengthy injury absences.
They are both named in the Boks’ starting squad for Saturday's Tri-Nations clash with Australia in Durban.
Both players missed the entire 2010 season with knee and shoulder injuries respectively.
They are named in a squad that shows 13 changes from the side that was beaten by New Zealand in Wellington in July.
“This is the strongest squad we have been able to choose from since 2009,” coach Peter de Villiers said. “It's great to have Fourie and Heinrich back as they were two of the leading players in world rugby when they last played in 2009.”
Saturday’s experienced Boks squad will boast a combined total of 810 caps.
