Wales centre Jonathan Davies has insisted that he is not too downbeat about missing the Rugby World Cup through injury.
The 27-year-old ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament while playing for club Toulon last month.
Despite claims that Davies could get himself back in contention to make the tournament, he admits that his long-term fitness is more important.
"I've done an ACL before so I know what's coming and it's going to be tough, but sometimes you've got to use your head, not your heart," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"I didn't want to be going into a major tournament like that, knowing that there's something not right with my knee. It's not ideal but it could be worse."
Davies has made 48 appearances for Wales since 2009.
