Worcester Warriors full-back Ben Howard has admitted that the team wasted several chances to score more tries in their Challenge Cup win over Stade Rochelais.
The 22-year-old scored the only try at Sixways as Dean Ryan's side opened their pool campaign with 19-3 victory.
However, Howard has suggested that Saturday's game was scrappy throughout against La Rochelle.
"We butchered enough tries in the game so it was nice to finally finish one at the end," Howard told the Worcester News.
"It was a bit of a scrappy game and very set-piece orientated which isn't always best for the backs but when it's raining like that, that can happen.
"I hadn't started a game this season and when I get the ball I always rather run that kick, but sometimes you do need to kick. Everyone was trying to show what they could do and, hopefully, I managed to do that."
Worcester are currently sixth in the Aviva Premiership.
