Judd Trump and Neil Robertson have ended the opening session in the UK Championships on a shared score of 4-4 in York.
The 22-year-old Englishman started on the front foot securing breaks of 51, 84 and 86 against his Australian opponent.
Despite leading Robertson 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3, Trump was forced into a tie following the 2012 world champion's 77 break.
The shared score means that the duo will have to compete at the Barbican Centre in a best-of-17 frames showdown in order to secure a spot in the final.
Trump's fellow Englishman Ricky Walden will take on Northern Ireland's Mark Allen in the other semi-final on Saturday.
