Nick Kyrgios splits with coach

Australia's Nick Kyrgios parts ways with coach Simon Rea despite reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals earlier this month.

Nick Kyrgios has revealed that a desire to spend more of his time away from the court in Australia is behind his decision to split with coach Simon Rea.

Kyrgios produced arguably the shock result at Wimbledon this year by defeating Rafael Nadal on the way to the last eight, but despite the success, the teenager believes that he would feel more comfortable staying at home in Canberra when not competing on the ATP Tour.

The 19-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "My desire to be at home more in Canberra, when I am not at tournaments, has driven me to make the decision for change within my team.

"Not only is Simon a great coach but he is a great person and I wish him all the best in the next phase of his coaching career."

Davis Cup coach Josh Eagle and Canberra-based academy trainer Todd Larkham will take Rea's place at the forefront of Kyrgios's development.
