Andy Murray has admitted that he is still being troubled by a back injury that forced him to miss last week's Madrid Open.
The Great British number one returned to action this afternoon against David Nalbandian in Rome following 10 days on the sidelines.
Speaking after his three-set victory in the Italian capital, Murray conceded that he is still struggling with the complaint.
"I was very happy to come through today," Murray told Sky Sports News. "I needed to come through a match like this. It's great preparation for the French Open.
"The back is a bit sore, It's going to be like that this week. So long as it's 100% for the French Open that's my goal.
"It was a very physically demanding match. I'm a bit stiff and sore right now but this match will have done me the world of good."
Murray reached the semi-finals of the French Open last year.
