British world number one Andy Murray has sailed to a spot in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters after defeating Andy Roddick in straight sets.

The number two seed put on a notable performance to win 6-2 6-2 in the third round of the competition.

The Scot got off to an impressive start by breaking his American opponent in the first match of the opening set. However, the 29-year-old utilised his powerful shots to find his way on the scoreboard.

While Roddick attempted to keep himself in the opening set, the Scot broke the American and went on to take the lead.

The 24-year-old continued his terrific form by claiming another break of serve in the start of the second set.

Murray continued to frustrate the former world number one, which at one point resulted in Roddick smashing his racquet to the floor and receiving a warning.

The British pro went on to win the match in straight sets and book a spot in the quarter-finals of the last Masters of the season.
