Dan Evans has reached the semi-finals of an ATP Tour event for the first time after he recorded a three-set victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber in Zagreb.
The 23-year-old, who lost in qualifying but was handed a lucky-loser spot, defied a second-set lapse to win 6-4 2-6 6-4.
The British number two broke serve in the fifth game of the opening set, and after wasting several opportunities to move ahead, he finally held serve to take the opener 6-4.
Kohlschreiber, the world number 27, rallied in the second set to break serve on two occasions, and it appeared as though the German had the momentum heading into the decider.
However, Evans broke serve at the start of the third, and after seeing two match points go by, he finally sealed victory with a forehand down the line.
Evans will now play either Tommy Haas or Andrey Kuznetsov for a place in Sunday's final.
