Maddie Bowman's grandmother Lorna Perpall has revealed she dreamt that the American freestyle skier would win an Olympic gold medal.
The American clinched gold in the women's half-pipe event at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi on Thursday.
"I had a dream about nine months ago and it just Maddie got gold," the Los Angeles Times quotes the 78-year-old as saying. "I thought, 'Well, that's my wishful thinking.'
"Maddie was the one that gave me the name. She was being interviewed on a public radio station. The interviewer said, 'It sounds like you and your grandmother are very close.'
"And Maddie said, 'Oh yeah. She's one Bad Ass Grandma. And I want to be just like her when I grow up.'"
Marie Martinod of France won the silver medal, while Japan's Ayana Onozuka clinched bronze.
