Following the AFC championship game on January 18 reports emerged that the New England Patriots had deflated footballs in their win over the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots staunchly denied the accusations amid a media frenzy during the build-up to the Super Bowl, which was won by Bill Belichick's men.
A report into the incident by Ted Wells and his team took 103 days to complete, however, it did find that it was more probable than not that members of the Patriots' equipment staff had deflated footballs in the game, while quarterback Tom Brady was "generally aware" of their activities.
The NFL banned Brady for four matches and handed out heavy sanctions to the Patriots, including docking them their first-round pick in the 2016 Draft. However, the Patriots hit back with a report of their own, condemning the Wells report, while Brady has now appealed his suspension by the league.
