New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has admitted that he feels more confident running the ball this season to add an extra dimension to his game.
The 23-year-old struggled in his first year with the Jets, but feels that as he becomes more comfortable in his side's offense he will be able to add an extra threat to his repertoire.
"I've gotten faster. And I'm also more confident with running the ball. A lot of that has to do with just my confidence with my reads, knowing when to put it down to run to get us some extra yards," Smith told reporters.
"We want to really put emphasis on getting the ball out on time and being sharp and precise with our throws, but if it's not there, use that extra asset that we have as runners."
Smith threw for 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in his 16 games in his rookie season.
