England and the West Indies have suffered a second successive washout as rain continued to pour down at Edgbaston.
Play was abandoned on Thursday just before tea time, but the umpire's decision to call off proceedings for a second day came just before 2pm.
It is the first time the first two days of a Test match have been called off in England without a ball being bowled since 1964.
The forecast for the weekend is slightly more optimistic, but England are now up against it in their quest to achieve a 3-0 series win.
