Draws befell both AC Milan and Atalanta BC in their last outings in the Serie A, but they have an opportunity to climb up the table this weekend.
Milan, who reside eighth in the standings, have not won in any of their last three league fixtures, and frustration grew further last weekend against Torino when Mattia De Sciglio was sent off.
Milan were leading the way with a third-minute penalty from Jeremy Menez, but Torino fought back to earn a 1-1 draw with a Kamil Glik goal in the 82nd minute.
Atalanta also struggled last weekend when they relinquished their lead to draw with Chievo and went down to 10 men late in the game following the dismissal of Gianpaolo Bellini.
Milan could potentially move towards the top five in the table with a victory on Sunday, while Atalanta are just two points above the relegation zone and have won just once in 11 league fixtures.
De Sciglio's red card means that the Milan man is suspended for this weekend's encounter, but the player would have missed out anyway after he suffered a foot injury during midweek's 2-1 victory over Sassuolo in the Coppa Italia.
Menez and Stephan El Shaarawy are expected to provide attacking threat for the home side, while Atalanta could field Mauricio Pinilla and German Denis.
