Arsenal Women will face local rivals Tottenham Hotspur Ladies in Sunday's North London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners occupy third spot in the Women's Super League table, while Spurs head into the weekend in sixth position.

Match preview

After suffering a surprise defeat against West Ham United, Arsenal reignited their title hopes with a 3-1 home victory over Manchester United in their final game before the international break.

A Geyse own goal gave Arsenal a 10th-minute lead, before Cloe Lacasse and Kim Little found the net to effectively wrap up all three points inside the opening 45 minutes.

Although Lucia Garcia pulled a goal back late on, it did little to dampen the mood among the Arsenal squad as they moved to within three points of Manchester City and Chelsea.

The Gunners return from the international break with another home fixture, which will certainly be welcomed by a side that has won each of their last six home matches in the top flight.

Arsenal will certainly fancy their chances of continuing that run of form, having won all of their three home league games against Tottenham in the WSL era.

Meanwhile, Spurs have been one of the most improved sides in the WSL this term after picking up 19 points from 14 games to surpass last season's 18-point tally.

However, Tottenham saw a drop-off in form before the international break, taking just one point from their last three league matches.

Robert Vilahamn's side lost out in home games against Manchester City and Aston Villa on either side of a 1-1 away draw with Liverpool.

Although they have suffered consecutive home league defeats, Spurs have fared reasonably well on their travels, having won three, drawn two and lost one of their previous six away WSL matches.

They will also draw inspiration from the fact that they claimed their first-ever WSL win over Arsenal when the two sides met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December.

Team News

Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall has revealed that Vivianne Miedema is set to undergo minor knee surgery and will be sidelined for several weeks.

Laura Wienroither, Teyah Goldie, Lina Hurtig and Michelle Agyemang are ruled out, but Leah Williamson, Victoria Pelova and Katie McCabe are all in contention to feature in the matchday squad following their recent injury issues.

However, Eidvall has confirmed that Swedish defender Amanda Ilestedt will be forced to miss Sunday's derby clash due to illness.

As for Arsenal's North London rivals, they are likely to be without the services of Ashleigh Neville and Drew Spence due to injury.

Finland international Olga Ahtinen could be brought into the side to partner her compatriot Eveliina Summanen in the centre of midfield.

Thomas is expected to retain her place in the forward line, and the former Man United striker will look to play another decisive role after scoring the winner in December's reverse league fixture against Arsenal.

Arsenal Women possible starting lineup:
D'Angelo; McCabe, Codina, Wubben-Moy, Catley; Walti, Cooney-Cross; Mead, Little, Lacasse; Russo

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Votikova; Grant, Turner, Bartrip, Nilden; Bizet, Ahtinen, Summanen, Clinton; Thomas, England

We say: Arsenal Women 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Ladies

Arsenal may have lost out to Tottenham in the reverse league fixture, but we think that they will make full use of home advantage to get revenge in Sunday's North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium.
