Mathieu Flamini scored twice as Arsenal beat North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 to book their place in the fourth round of the League Cup this evening.

The Gunners took the lead in the first half when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's strike was parried by Michel Vorm, and Flamini followed up to score the rebound.

After the break Spurs drew level as Calum Chambers could only divert a cross from Nacer Chadli into his own net.

However, with 11 minutes left to play Flamini fired a volley from the edge of the box into the bottom corner to seal the win for the Gunners.

TOTTENHAM

Goal

Michel Vorm: Although the keeper made some important saves throughout the evening, he should have done better with a shot from Oxlade-Chamberlain that he could only push into the path of Flamini for the opening goal. (5/10)

Defence

Kieran Trippier: Decent display from the full-back who was rarely beaten down his side of the pitch and supported his team well in advanced areas. (6/10)

Federico Fazio: Failed to win any of his tackles this evening and was badly caught out of position on a number of occasions. (5/10)

Kevin Wimmer: Showed some promising signs on his debut for Spurs and dealt well with the physical threat of Giroud, but was fortunate not to give away a penalty after a tussle with Sanchez. (6/10)

Danny Rose: Gave Debuchy a number of problems in the first half and came close with an effort that was saved by Vorm, but did not make the same impact after the break. (7/10)

Midfield

Tom Carroll: Was unable to stamp his authority on the match and gave the ball cheaply in some dangerous areas. (5/10)

Eric Dier: Won a number of tackles and never shied away from a challenge during a hard-working performance. (6/10)

Nacer Chadli: Looked a threat whenever he received possession in Arsenal's half of the pitch and set up the winning goal with a dangerous low cross that Chambers could only turn into his own net. (7/10)

Christian Eriksen: Came close with a fierce attempt early in the second half, but could not provide his usual threat from set pieces. (6/10)

Andros Townsend: Started the game brightly, but struggled as the night wore on and was eventually replaced by Son. (5/10)

Attack

Harry Kane: Almost scored with a volley that was cleared off the line by Gibbs, but was kept quiet by the Arsenal defence for the majority of the match. (6/10)

Substitutes

Son Heung-min: Failed to make any impact when he was brought on midway through the second half. (5/10)

Delle Alli: Looked lively when he came on but did not see enough of the ball to cause a threat. (6/10)

Clinton N'Jie: Came close with a header just moments after he was brought on and fired an effort wide in stoppage time. (6/10)

ARSENAL

Goal

David Ospina: Did well to save at the feet of Rose in the first half and kept out a powerful shot from Eriksen after the break, but could have done little about the own goal from Chambers. (6/10)

Defence

Mathieu Debuchy: Was given a tough night as Rose constantly got in behind him down the right, while he failed to pick up Chadli for Tottenham's equaliser. (5/10)

Per Mertesacker: Strong return to action for the German international, who won everything in the air and was rarely caught out of position. (7/10)

Calum Chambers: Despite turning the ball into his own net, the defender was strong in the tackle and ensured that Kane had as few chances to score as possible. (7/10)

Kieran Gibbs: Made a superb block on the line to deny a goalbound header from Kane and got forward to support his teammates down the left all evening. (8/10)

Midfield

Mathieu Flamini: Gave Arsenal the lead with a close-range finish, before winning the match with a brilliant volley in the closing stages. (8/10)

Mikel Arteta: Produced a far more reliable display than during last week's European defeat and ensured good cover for his defence. (7/10)

Aaron Ramsey: Was reliable in possession and used the ball well throughout the match, while he also tried his luck on goal on a couple of occasions. (7/10)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Played a crucial part in the opening goal and looked a threat going forward all evening until his late withdrawal. (8/10)

Joel Campbell: Tracked back well and worked hard for the team, but lacked composure in the final third and headed over the bar from a promising position early in the match. (6/10)

Attack

Olivier Giroud: Battled hard against Fazio and Wimmer all evening and put in a lot of effort. Almost got on the scoresheet when his close-range strike was kept out by Vorm. (6/10)

Substitutes

Alexis Sanchez: Was straight into the action following his arrival and looked to make things happen. He was involved in the winning goal as his surging run through the midfield ended with Flamini firing home. (7/10)

Theo Walcott: Came on in the final minute and almost added a third goal for the Gunners in stoppage time with a strike that went just wide of the post. (6/10)
