Arsenal have reportedly emerged as the Premier League frontrunners to sign Las Palmas attacker Alberto Moleiro.
Earlier this year, Moleiro was linked with a potential move to Liverpool after impressing with his performances for Las Palmas.
However, the Spain Under-21 international has stayed put in Gran Canaria after a summer transfer failed to materialise.
Moleiro remains a key part of the Las Palmas squad, demonstrated by the fact that he has started 13 of the club's 15 league matches this season.
The attacker, who can play as a number 10 or a winger, has scored four goals in La Liga this season, helping Las Palmas in their battle to avoid relegation.
Arsenal emerge as frontrunners for Moleiro
While he will be focused on his team's survival fight, Moleiro is now being linked with a potential move away in the January transfer window.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are in pole position to sign Moleiro after identifying the youngster as a transfer target.
The report claims that the Gunners are the 'main Premier League club' in the race to sign the highly-rated Spaniard in 2025.
Las Palmas will be reluctant to part ways with Moleiro midway through a relegation fight, but they will consider a departure if they receive proposals in excess of €20m (£16.6m).
Arsenal facing Al-Hila competition
While the Gunners may be in a strong position, they are facing 'serious' competition from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
The Saudi Pro League champions are 'working behind the scenes' on a lucrative offer as they look to leapfrog Arsenal in the race to sign Moleiro.
There is a belief that Al-Hilal will table a 'concrete offer' in the near future, with the Saudi Pro League looking to recruit some of the best prospects as well as high-profile players.
Al-Hilal have signed a number of players from top European leagues in recent years, including Neymar, Joao Cancelo, Ruben Neves and Aleksandr Mitrovic. body check tags ::
