Monaco came from behind to record a 2-1 win over Bordeaux in Friday night's Ligue 1 clash at Stade Louis II.

Valentin Vada sent the visitors into a 32nd-minute lead, but Stevan Jovetic levelled the scores in the latter stages of the first period before Rony Lopes completed the turnaround in the 69th minute.

The victory has moved second-placed Monaco five points clear of third-placed Marseille in the Ligue 1 table, while Bordeaux remain down in ninth position courtesy of their 12th league defeat of the campaign.

Monaco had the first opportunity of the match in the 16th minute, but Jovetic could only turn Fabinho's cross wide of the far post.

The hosts came close once again 11 minutes later when Rachid Ghezzal worked some space inside the Bordeaux box before striking towards goal, but the attacker's effort rattled the crossbar.

Bordeaux struggled in the early exchanges, but they were ahead in the 32nd minute courtesy of a brilliant strike from Vada, who had collected a pass from Youssouf Sabaly.

Thomas Lemar and Jovetic came close to levelling in the period that followed, but the former just missed the post with a low strike before the latter was denied by Bordeaux goalkeeper Benoit Costil.

The pressure continued to build in the latter stages of the first half, and Monaco managed to level in the 45th minute when Lemar found Jovetic, and the forward slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

The first opportunity of the second period also fell to Monaco, although Djibril Sidibe's strike failed to test Costil.

Monaco continued to press, however, and scored their second in the 69th minute when Sidibe's low cross was turned into the back of the net by Rony Lopes.

Bordeaux's best chance of a leveller fell to Martin Braithwaite in the 84th minute, but the forward saw his close-range header deflected behind as Monaco secured all three points to strengthen their grip on second.

MONACO (4-2-3-1): Subasic, Sidibe, Jemerson, Raggi, Jorge; Moutinho, Fabinho; Rony (Tielemans 81'), Lemar, Ghezzal (Keita 64'); Jovetic (N'Doram 90')

BORDEAUX (4-3-3): Costil; Poundje, Pablo (Kounde 32'), Sabaly, Baysse; Lerager, Vada (Laborde 77'), Plasil; Kamano (Youssouf 64'), Braithwaite, De Preville
