Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has sent his scouts to monitor Japanese midfielder Takashi Inui.
The 23-year-old currently plays his club football in the German second division with VfL Bochum, a club he joined in July.
Villa may face competition for the attacking midfielder's signature, with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt also keen on singing him, according to The People.
Inui has scored four goals in ten appearances this season.
