Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has insisted that his side are 'more than just Lionel Messi', despite the Argentine once again grabbing the headlines against PSV Eindhoven.
Messi scored his eighth Champions League hat-trick as Barcelona opened their 2018-19 European challenge with a 4-0 win over PSV at Camp Nou.
Ter Stegen admits that "Messi always turns up", but the German has called for the entire Barcelona team to be appreciated for their performance against the Dutch champions.
"Lionel Messi always turns up for us, everyone knows his level and nobody can compare to him," Ter Stegen told reporters. "But while Leo always is fantastic, there are ten other players in our team who helped us in this victory too, we are a team and not just one individual."
Barcelona will look to make it five straight La Liga wins at the start of the 2018-19 campaign when they host Girona on Sunday night.
