Barcelona defender Dani Alves has reportedly been left unhappy with Xavi's decision to leave him out of the squad for the latter stages of the Europa League.
UEFA regulations only allow a maximum of three new additions to European squads in the middle of the campaign, and the Catalan giants named January arrivals Ferran Torres, Adama Traore and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the squad.
As a result, there was no space for Alves, who has made four appearances for the Catalan giants since his return to the club in the latter stages of 2021.
According to Sport, the 38-year-old was upset with Xavi's decision, as he wanted to help the club challenge for their first ever Europa League title, following their surprise Champions League exit.
Barcelona will take on Napoli in the knockout round of the Europa League, with the first leg to take place at Camp Nou on February 17 before the return in Italy on February 24.
Ousmane Dembele was also included in the European squad despite suggestions that the France international has played his last game for the club. body check tags ::
