How Barcelona could line up against Galatasaray

Barcelona will have to work around the absence of midfield starlet Gavi for the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie with Galatasaray at Camp Nou on Thursday night.

The 17-year-old was booked for the third time in continental competition in the playoff second-leg win over Napoli and will serve a one-match suspension this week.

Xavi has no fresh concerns to work around from the 2-1 win over Elche at the weekend, although Sergi Roberto, Alejandro Balde, Ansu Fati and Samuel Umtiti all remain out injured.

Dani Alves will also drop out of the side due to ineligibility, with Sergino Dest primed to join Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo and Jordi Alba in the Blaugrana's backline.

Pedri is guaranteed a start in midfield with fellow teenager Gavi suspended, as Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets hold their places.

It would be a surprise not to see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang lead the line, but Ferran Torres and Memphis Depay have both given Xavi food for thought after coming off the bench to net against Elche.

Torres will likely slot in for the suspended Gavi on the left, but there could be an alteration on the right either way, with Adama Traore hoping to come back in for Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Dest, Araujo, Pique, Alba; Pedri, Busquets, De Jong; Traore, Aubameyang, Torres body check tags ::
