Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Real Sociedad.
Sports Mole

Barcelona will be looking to make the perfect start to their 2021-22 La Liga campaign when they welcome Real Sociedad to Camp Nou on Sunday.

The Catalan giants, who announced Lionel Messi's departure last week, finished third behind Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in the table last term and have now gone two seasons without winning the title.

The team will be determined to put their off-the-field issues to one side this weekend to pick up an important early three points.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their battle with Real Sociedad.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona will be without the services of new signing Aguero for up to 10 weeks due to a calf problem, meaning that he could have to wait until November to make his debut for the Catalan giants.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Dembele was forced to undergo knee surgery due to the injury that he picked up while representing France at Euro 2020, and the attacker will be on the sidelines until the latter stages of the year.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Ter Stegen underwent a knee operation in the middle of May, which ruled him out of Germany's Euro 2020 campaign, and the club's number one goalkeeper will also be absent in the early stages of the 2021-22 season.

Oscar Mingueza

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Mingueza suffered a hamstring injury while representing Spain Under-23s at the Tokyo Olympics and has therefore been ruled out of this contest.

Clement Lenglet

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: August 15 (vs. Real Sociedad)

Barcelona could be without the services of Lenglet for Sunday's clash with Real Sociedad, as the centre-back is struggling with a knee complaint.

Ansu Fati

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Fati has returned to light training for Barcelona after a serious knee injury, but the Spain international will not be available for this contest, and it is unclear when he might be cleared to make his first-team return.

Frenkie de Jong

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: August 15 (vs. Real Sociedad)

De Jong faces an uphill battle to be available for Barcelona's La Liga opener, with the Netherlands international suffering a calf problem earlier this month.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barcelona have no players suspended for this match.
