Alex Song is on the verge of joining Rubin Kazan after the Russian club agreed a free transfer.
The midfielder will complete the switch from Barcelona, where he spent four years, two of which were on loan at West Ham United.
Today, Kazan took to Twitter to write: "FC Rubin announce reaching preliminary agreement ahead of signing Alex Song."
Song joined Barcelona in 2012 following a six-year spell at Arsenal, but he failed to hold down a regular spot in the team.
The writing was on the wall for the midfielder when head coach Luis Enrique did not give him a return date for pre-season training.
