A Franck Ribery strike has given Bayern Munich a 1-0 half-time lead over Roma in the Champions League this evening.
Two weeks ago, Roma had been on the end of a 7-1 demolition in Italy but despite Rudi Garcia resting the likes of Francesco Totti and Miralem Pjanic, the Serie A outfit started positively at the Allianz Arena.
However, it was Bayern who created the first opening of the contest with Juan Bernat seeing his goal-bound volley blocked by defender Vasilis Torosidis.
Philipp Lahm was the next to try his luck but his 25-yard drive was well held by Lukasz Skorupski before a free kick from David Alaba just evaded the far post.
With seven minutes of the half remaining, Bayern finally went in front when Alaba's cross caused havoc in the penalty area and Ribery was on hand to tap home from close range.
Roma were still getting the ball into the final third of the pitch but without offering a threat and Bayern were able to easily hold on to their lead until half time.
