Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has paid tribute to Philipp Lahm for his display against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The holders beat the Russian outfit 3-0 at the Allianz Arena, as they took the first step towards defending their crown.
Lahm, a usual full-back, operated as a defensive midfielder for the clash, and Guardiola was delighted with his performance.
"The style we play is Bayern's style, not mine," Guardiola told reporters. "I am here to support my new players and I am very proud of them today.
"Philipp helped us today. His performance [as a defensive midfielder] was a surprise.
"He won the ball back and spread the play well. We played better in the middle,"
David Alaba, Mario Mandzukic and Arjen Robben scored the goals for the Bundesliga champions.
