Bayern Munich have opened their Champions League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over CSKA Moscow in Group D at the Allianz Arena.
Pep Guardiola's side surged ahead after just three minutes through David Alaba, who scored with a direct free kick.
Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic combined with each other just three minutes later to try to put Bayern 2-0 up, but Igor Akinfeev made a good save.
Bayern had another good chance to double their advantage on 14 minutes when Mandzukic climbed highest to an Alaba cross, but the striker's header went over the CSKA crossbar.
The defending European champions were denied by the frame of the visitors' goal in the 37th minute when Mandzukic's headed effort came back off the far post.
However, there was no stopping the 27-year-old Croatian striker three minutes later as he headed home Arjen Robben's free kick.
The Dutch winger himself made it 3-0 midway through the second half when he chested down Alaba's ball over the CSKA defence and struck a half-volley beyond the reach of Akinfeev.
