Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Champions League clash between Dynamo Kiev and Bayern Munich, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Having already sealed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League, Bayern Munich travel to Dynamo Kiev for Tuesday's Group E clash.

Julian Nagelsmann's side have taken 12 points from 12 to sit at the top of the rankings, whereas the Ukrainian hosts are last with just one point to their name.

Match preview

The final days of Ronald Koeman's tenure at Barcelona were truly forgettable for the Catalan faithful, but Dynamo Kiev were unable to pile more misery on the Dutchman before his departure as Barca ran out 1-0 winners on matchday four in the Champions League.

Ansu Fati's 70th-minute strike condemned Dynamo Kiev to a third defeat from four in Europe this season while also prolonging their barren run in front of goal, with Mircea Lucescu's side one of only two teams in the group stage yet to find the back of the net alongside Malmo.

Unsurprisingly, Dynamo Kiev are rooted to the bottom of the rankings in Group E and are fighting an uphill battle to even salvage Europa League football yet alone challenge for the top two, but they did manage to thrash Chornomorets 6-1 at the weekend.

However, it is now just one win in their last 10 Champions League games for the 16-time Ukrainian champions, and even though Bayern have already sealed progress to the next stage, Lucescu will not be harbouring hopes of a shock result here.

Bayern's Munich's unparalleled ruthlessness has been evident for a number of years now, and Nagelsmann's side needed no second invitation to sweep aside the competition in Group E and ease into the last 16 for the 14th year in succession.

The Bundesliga champions conceded their first two goals of the group stage last time out to Benfica but hit back with five of their own against the Portuguese giants, with Robert Lewandowski netting three while Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry also got in on the act.

However, a COVID-hit Bayern squad fell to a shock defeat last time out in the Bundesliga against Augsburg - ending a three-game winning streak in all competitions in the process - but a tally of 12 points taken and 17 goals scored in the Champions League ought to serve them well for the trip to Kiev.

Incredibly, the Bavarian giants are unbeaten in their last 22 games away from home in Europe's premier competition since defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in September 2017, and Bayern put five unanswered goals past Dynamo Kiev during their battle in September.

Team News

Dynamo have no fresh injury concerns to work around for this contest, but their attacking woes are very much alive with Artem Besedin, Vladyslav Supryaga and Ibrahim Kargbo all still sidelined.

Centre-back Denys Popov remains out for the long term with a cruciate ligament rupture, but Ilya Zabarnyi should return after serving a suspension in the Chornomorets thrashing.

Vitinho and Vitaliy Buyalskyi ought to hold their places after netting braces at the weekend, with Vladyslav Kulach and Denys Garmash both pushing for recalls after coming off the bench to score in that drubbing.

Meanwhile, Bayern centre-back Dayot Upamecano will miss out due to an accumulation of bookings, and Nagelsmann is set to be working with a COVID-ravaged squad once again this week.

Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Jamal Musiala and Michael Cuisance will all reportedly miss out for that reason, and Niklas Sule will not be ready either, while Kingsley Coman remains a doubt with muscular discomfort.

Alphonso Davies is set to return to the first XI in better news for Bayern, who do not exactly have bountiful options for rotation given their long list of absentees, which could now include Marcel Sabitzer following an Achilles flare up in training.

Dynamo Kiev possible starting lineup:
Bushchan; Karavaev, Syrota, Zabarnyi, Mykolenko; Sydorchuk, Shaparenko; Tsygankov, Buyalskyi, Vitinho; Kulach

Bayern Munich possible starting lineup:
Neuer; Pavard, Hernandez, Nianzou, Richards; Goretzka, Roca; Sane, Muller, Davies; Lewandowski

We say: Dynamo Kiev 0-2 Bayern Munich

Dynamo will hope to experience some long-awaited joy in front of goal against a depleted Bayern defence, but their lack of firepower in Europe is set to cost them dear.

Nagelsmann will not accept a hint of complacency from his side as they endeavour to seal top spot in the group, so we can only back a near full-strength Bayern to get the job done.
