The latest version of Der Klassiker will take place at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday evening, with Borussia Dortmund welcoming Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund are currently fourth in the Bundesliga table, boasting 21 points from their opening nine matches, while Bayern are second, two points above their opponents in this match.
BVB will enter the match off the back of a 1-0 victory over Hoffenheim in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday, but Bayern were shocked by Saarbrucken in the cup, losing 2-1 to the third-tier outfit.
Ahead of Der Klassiker, Sports Mole looks back at the head-to-head record between the two sides.
HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD
Matches: 133
Borussia Dortmund wins: 34
Draws: 31
Bayern Munich wins: 68
Saturday's encounter will be the 134th meeting between these two sides in all competitions, and Bayern lead the head-to-head record with 68 victories to Dortmund's 34.
Bayern have scored 274 goals in their previous meetings to Dortmund's 180, while the Munich giants have been victorious in 53 of their 108 matches in the Bundesliga, suffering 25 defeats in the process.
Eleven of their meetings have been in the German Cup, with Bayern also leading the head-to-head record in that competition six wins to Dortmund's two, while there have also been three draws.
These two sides have also met in the Champions League three times, with Bayern winning 2-1 when the pair locked horns in the final of the competition back in 2013, but Dortmund recorded a 1-0 aggregate victory over two legs in the quarter-finals of the competition back in 1997-98.
This will be the first meeting between the two giants of German football since April of this year, when Bayern recorded a 4-2 victory in their Bundesliga contest.
Bayern have dominated their recent matches, triumphing in 10 of their last 11 meetings, with Dortmund last beating the Munich outfit in the DFL-Supercup final in August 2019.
Meanwhile, BVB have not managed to overcome Bayern in the Bundesliga since November 2018, which is an indication of the size of their task in this match.
The fact that Bayern suffered a shock elimination in the German Cup on Wednesday could also make this a harder game for Dortmund than it originally might have been.
Dortmund's last two Bundesliga wins over Bayern have come at home, but they have only beaten their bitter rivals twice in the league since April 2014. body check tags ::
