Goals from Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski have given Bayern Munich a 2-0 lead over Hoffenheim at half time.
Despite spending much of the first half on the back foot, Hoffenheim threatened in the early stages through Anthony Modeste, who headed just wide from a Tobias Strobl cross.
Oliver Baumann was forced into action to keep Hoffenheim on level terms with impressive saves from Thomas Muller and Lewandowski in the space of a few minutes.
However, Baumann was unable to prevent the hosts from breaking the deadlock in the 23rd minute as Gotze took full advantage of space 25 yards from goal by finding the top corner with a powerful strike.
Gotze threatened to repeat the trick before the break, but his second speculative effort drifted over the crossbar, much to the relief of the visiting supporters.
Bayern would find a second moments later thanks to Lewandowski, who peeled away from his marker to head home Arjen Robben's cross.
