Germany striker Mario Gomez has hit out at his critics after scoring two goals during his country's 2-1 victory over the Netherlands.
The Bayern Munich forward also found the net in his team's Euro 2012 opener against Portugal, but was criticised for his overall performance.
Following this evening's result, the 26-year-old slammed the naysayers, claiming that their feedback was not constructive.
"Such a motivation injection (the critics) I don't need, the pressure was high already," Gomez told German television station ZDF.
"It's a pity that these things happen. I simply try to do even more and to always give my best.
"Both goals were important for me and I'm happy the team stood behind me. It was not right to score the winner against Portugal and get your face slapped for three days.
"After three days like that it was not easy. The team believes in me and the trainer also said to me that I did well and that he believes in me."
Germany go into their final group game against Denmark having taken maximum points so far.
