Roger Schmidt has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen will need to be positive in their approach if they are going to claim anything from the game against Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Leaders Bayern are currently 10 points clear of Leverkusen, who sit in third spot, but Schmidt is confident that his side will be able to cause problems for the defending champions.
"The game in Munich is a massive challenge," the Leverkusen boss told reporters. "Bayern are very settled and boast enormously high individual quality. Their clear strategy, tactical discipline and especially their team spirit have brought them very good results.
"We have to believe in ourselves. We have to make sure we go out and do the things we know we can do well.
"I'm optimistic we're capable of creating chances. If we also don't neglect our defending, we could be awkward opponents for Bayern."
Bayern have lost just twice in all competitions this season, but have not suffered a defeat in the Bundesliga.
