Bayern Munich relinquish a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg in Friday night's Bundesliga encounter at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich have been held to a 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg in Friday night's Bundesliga encounter at the Allianz Arena.

Both sides were quick out of the starting blocks, with Joshua Kimmich's cross nearly dropping for the lurking Arturo Vidal in the visitors' box just three minutes in.

At the other end, Wolfsburg were able to launch a counter-attack and Divock Origi came close to being set free in the Bayern penalty area.

The tackles also came thick and fast early on, with Vidal, Marcel Tisserand and William all seeing yellow in the first 25 minutes of the encounter.

Tisserand was then found guilty of hauling Robert Lewandowski down by his shirt in the box, prompting the referee to award Bayern a penalty.

The Poland striker stepped up and duly sent Koen Casteels the wrong way to give the hosts the lead in the 33rd minute of the match.

Arjen Robben went on to double Bayern's lead before the break as he powered towards the box and fired an effort which took a deflection off Tisserand and bounced beyond Casteels.

Martin Schmidt's charges managed to halve the deficit in the 56th minute as Maximilian Arnold's free kick from 25 yards got the better of Sven Ulreich in the Bayern goal.

Just eight minutes from time, Wolfsburg's comeback was complete as Yunus Malli's swirling cross was headed home by Daniel Didavi.

The result means that Carlo Ancelotti's charges remain second in the table on goal difference, with Borussia Dortmund boasting a game in hand over their rivals.
