Newly-crowned German champions Bayern Munich have registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Freiburg at the Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga.
The victory saw the Bavarian giants set a new record of 84 points in a single Bundesliga season.
Jupp Heynckes's side dominated proceedings right from the start and could have surged ahead after 20 minutes had Xherdan Shaqiri's volley from the edge of the area been on target.
Youngster Emre Can had a good chance seven minutes later when he found himself at the end of a Rafinha cross, but his effort from close range was kept out by Oliver Baumann.
Then just after the half-hour mark Luiz Gustavo floated a ball over the top of the Freiburg defence for Diego Contento, but the left-back failed to chip it to the far post.
Bayern eventually broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Shaqiri found the target with a direct free kick.
Gustavo could have made it 2-0 moments later but Baumann made a good save between the Freiburg posts.
Bayern continued to have the better chances in the second half, Can testing Baumann from distance and Shaqiri failing to his keep his long-range shot on target.
Mario Mandzukic was unlucky not to score in the 58th minute when he saw his effort crash against the Freiburg crossbar, before Mario Gomez headed wide from a good position after finding himself at the end of a Contento cross.
Daniel Caligiuri had a couple of chances for the visitors, but his failure to beat Tom Starke meant that Bayern picked up all three points at home.
