Bayern Munich have dropped points in the Bundesliga for the second time this season following a goalless draw with Hamburger SV.
In a first half dominated by the defenders on the pitch, Claudio Pizarro wasted a great chance to break the deadlock as he fired over the crossbar from Rafinha's clever pass.
Predictably, Bayern started to dominate possession even more as the match progressed, but their frustration continued for the duration of the first half, with Juan Bernat coming closest to a goal when his powerful effort was saved by Jaroslav Drobny.
The hosts grew in confidence following a promising first-half display, and were agonisingly close to taking the lead just after the break when Nicolai Muller fired just wide of the post, with Manuel Neuer looking helpless.
Despite their obvious superiority, Bayern's struggles in front of goal would go on as Drobny reacted well to keep out a low strike from Philipp Lahm.
Bayern were given another scare when Heiko Westermann was invited forward to shoot, with Neuer being forced to tip his long-range effort over the crossbar.
Pep Guardiola was forced to turn to his bench late on as Mario Gotze and Thomas Muller were both introduced as the champions went in search for a winner.
The changes should have worked for Bayern, but Muller missed the chance to snatch the points late on as he miscued an effort from close range.
