Blackburn Rovers striker David Goodwillie will stand trial in October charged with assault.
The summer signing from Dundee United has been accused of repeatedly kicking and punching John Friel in Glasgow's Queen Street in November 2010.
The 22-year-old has submitted a not guilty plea in writing to the Glasgow Sheriff Court.
The striker made his Rovers debut as a substitute during the club's 2-1 home loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers last Saturday.
