Blackburn Rovers claimed all three points from the relegation-battle fixture with Queens Park Rangers this afternoon.
Hosting Rovers put the game out of the reach of Rangers before the break by scoring three goals without reply.
First, Nigerian striker Yakubu opened the scoring in the 14th minute from inside the area after collecting possession from Steven N'Zonzi.
Midfielder N'Zonzi then turned provider eight minutes later when he slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net following a cross from Junior Hoilett.
Hoilett was involved in Blackburn's third in first-half stoppage time when his cross was turned into his own net by QPR defender Nedum Onuoha.
Mark Hughes's Rangers rallied after the break and began to exert pressure on the Rovers goal.
That domination finally told in the 70th minute when full-back Taye Taiwo crossed from the left for substitute Jamie Mackie to send an effort into the roof of the net from inside the six yard box.
Mackie found the net again in stoppage time with a long range effort to reduce Blackburn's lead to one goal.
However, Rangers were unable to convert their pressure into any more goals as Steve Kean's Rovers held out for the victory.
