Former Italy international Gianfranco Zola has reportedly emerged as the favourite for the vacant managerial role at Bologna.
The 47-year-old has been without a job since quitting as Watford boss in December following the club's poor run of form in the Championship.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Chelsea striker, who won 35 international caps during the 1990s, is the Serie B side's preferred candidate to take over.
Davide Ballardini was not offered a new contract at the club following their relegation at the end of the 2013-14 Serie A season.
