Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has insisted that his side were worthy of their 4-1 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
The Germans ran out comfortable winners in the first leg of the tie at the Westfalenstadion on Wednesday as Robert Lewandowski scored all of the home team's goals.
"It was a royal evening for us, it would have been perfect if we had kept a clean sheet. However, it's quite hard to get a better result against a team like Real," Gundogan is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"We played a great game from the start until the final whistle and deserved to win by this margin."
Dortmund travel to Madrid for the second leg on Tuesday.
