Neven Subotic's header has given Borussia Dortmund a 1-0 half-time lead over Hertha Berlin at Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund needed just nine minutes to break the deadlock as Subotic capitalised on some poor marking to power home a header from Henrikh Mkhitaryan's corner.
Mkhitaryan almost added a goal to his early assist when he skipped a couple of challenges to force his way into the box, but he could only fire past the post.
Despite enjoying more possession as the first half progressed, Hertha struggled to cause problems for the Dortmund defence as the hosts continued to look threatening on the counter.
The closest Hertha would come to getting back on level terms arrived when Valentin Stocker created space on the edge of the box before sending a poor effort over.
