Augsburg have moved above Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga table with a 2-1 win over them.
It was a bright start from Augsburg and they could even have been ahead inside two minutes, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen got behind Daniel Baier's shot from just outside the box.
They did not get disheartened, however, and were ahead after just five minutes when Raffael was found by Havard Nordtveit and fired a shot into the bottom corner from range.
The hosts came into the game and should have done better midway through the half when Martin Stranzl met a corner, but he could only put it a long way over the bar.
Not long later they were indeed level. Andre Hahn cleverly headed the ball into Halil Altintop's path and the Turkish midfielder smashed his finish high for 1-1.
In the second half Gladbach came forward and on the break Patrick Herrmann came close, but his low effort was well tipped wide by Alexander Manninger.
However, it was the away side who snatched all three points through Tobias Werner, who scored with just nine minutes to play.
