A brace from Patrick Herrmann helped hosting Borussia Monchengladbach to inflict a first Bundesliga defeat of the season on Hoffenheim this afternoon.
Having dominated the opening exchanges, Monchengladbach, who were also unbeaten heading into this contest, broke the deadlock in the 13th minute when Andre Hahn fired in.
However, the visitors were level in the 30th minute as former Blackburn Rovers striker Anthony Modeste struck inside the area for the fourth time this term.
Parity would only last for three minutes, though, as Herrmann scored his first goal of the contest. Hahn turned provider on this occasion as he crossed for the 23-year-old to convert from close range.
Eight minutes after the restart, the winger made sure of the outcome when he pounced on Havard Nordtveit's deflected effort to score the home side's third goal.
The three points has seen Monchengladbach tighten their grip on third spot, while visiting Hoffenheim remain a place further back in fourth.
