Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has handed a rare start to former Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Rob Elliot for their FA Cup third-round clash against Brighton & Hove Albion away from home.
Pardew has made five changes to his side that were beaten 2-1 at home by Everton on Wednesday, with James Tavernier starting at right-back and Gael Bigirimana replacing Cheick Tiote, who is away on Africa Cup of Nations duty for the Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, Brighton are without winger Vicente because of a thigh problem but winger Will Buckley has recovered from a hamstring injury to take his place among the substitutes.
Kazenga LuaLua also makes the bench for the hosts against his former club.
