Sports Mole looks ahead to Tuesday's Championship meeting between Brighton & Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town.

Two teams who have managed to steer clear of the threat of relegation will meet on Tuesday night when Brighton & Hove Albion host Huddersfield Town at The Amex.

Brighton head into the game six points behind the Terriers, and the fans of both clubs will be hopeful of seeing their respective sides finish the campaign strongly.

Brighton

After flirting with the bottom three for much of the season, Brighton should finally be able to start relaxing heading into the final four games of what has been a very frustrating campaign for the Seagulls supporters.

Chris Hughton's arrival has pushed them clear of the relegation zone, but their Championship form has been far from impressive and it's arguably the performances of the sides struggling below them which has allowed Brighton to secure their place in the league for another year.

Nine points separate Brighton from Wigan Athletic, who currently occupy 22nd spot, and unless the Latics can produce a surprising winning run to finish the season, Hughton will be preparing for Championship football this summer.

The pressure will be on the former Norwich City boss to take his side back into the top half of the table after the club's efforts in the playoffs in recent years, but he may be looking at the final four games as an opportunity to find out which players have a future at the club.

As always is the case, there will be arrivals and departures in the summer, and despite having a solid base to his squad, Hughton will surely be planning changes after inheriting the current group of players from Sami Hyypia.

Finding form will be difficult for Brighton after Friday's 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth made it three successive losses, and a run of one win in seven matches could have been crucial had any of the bottom three made a late-season charge up the table.

The Brighton attack has managed just one goal in their previous five outings, and the focus will be on the likes of Leon Best and Craig Mackail-Smith as they look to lead from the front in the closing stages of the season.

Huddersfield

The Terriers will prepare for Tuesday's game with a lot more confidence than their opponents after recording another victory against a top-half side at the weekend.

Less than a week after surprising promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town with a 2-1 victory, Chris Powell was left delighted once again as his side earned a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground thanks to Sean Scannell's first-half strike.

Suffering just one defeat in their last six games has moved them 15 points clear of the bottom three, and a top-half finish is still a possibility heading into the final four fixtures.

If Powell's men are going to force themselves into the top 12, they will need to maintain their form over the next couple of weeks, but with Cardiff City currently sitting just four points better off, the Huddersfield fans could be pleasantly surprised by a strong finish to the season.

Since reaching the Championship in 2012, the Terriers have been forced to settle for finishes of 19th and 17th, and Powell will surely be praised for any improvement on that record.

Team News

Kazenga Lua Lua and Rohan Ince were both substitutes in the defeat to Bournemouth, but one of the attacking midfielders could be welcomed back into the lineup.

There could also be a change in attack, with Mackail-Smith pushing to be recalled alongside either Best or Mustapha Carayol up front.

Powell named the same 11 players in the wins over both Ipswich and Forest, and the Huddersfield boss could field an unchanged side once again.

Nahki Wells and James Vaughan are set to continue their partnership in attack, which means Ishmael Miller is likely to be named as a substitute for the visitors.

Brighton possible starting lineup:
Stockdale, Bruno, Halford, Dunk, Bennett, Stephens, Lua Lua, Calderon, Teixeira, Mackail-Smith, Best

Huddersfield possible starting lineup:
Smithies, Hudson, Smith, Gobern, Lynch, Reece James, Coady, Butterfield, Scannell, Vaughan, Wells

Head To Head

There has been nothing to separate these two sides in recent meetings, with a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture back in October making it three successive games without a winner.

Huddersfield have not managed to beat Brighton since achieving the double over the Seagulls in the 2010-11 League One campaign.

Benik Afobe was the hero in Huddersfield's last win at Brighton. The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker, who was on loan at the club from Arsenal at the time, scored twice in a 3-2 triumph in April 2011.

We say: Brighton 1-2 Huddersfield

Huddersfield should head into the game full of confidence after two excellent victories in the past week, and the hope of creeping into the top half of the table should drive Powell's side to use that momentum and pick up another three points.
