Relegated Cagliari Calcio have finished their Serie A campaign on a winning note with a 4-3 triumph at home to Udinese.
The hosts opened the scoring with 13 minutes played when Marco Sau found the net from the edge of the penalty area.
Cagliari doubled their advantage just six minutes later thanks to Joao Pedro, who drilled the ball home from a free kick. Udinese then pulled one back through Rodrigo Aguirre moments before half time.
Chances were hard to come by in the second period, though it was the home side that looked the more likely to score. Sau flashed a shot inches wide on 50 minutes before Duje Cop did the same with 15 minutes left.
A frantic finale saw Paul-Jose M'Poku put Cagliari 3-1 up on 80 minutes, but Bruno Fernandes's spectacular drive just a minute later kept Udinese in contention.
However, Fernandes was at fault for Cagliari's fourth goal five minutes from time when he put the ball into his own net, while Cyril Thereau bagged a consolation for the away side late on.
